Pyrkon Fan Convention has won the most important award in the tourism industry – the Certificate of the Polish Tourism Organisation. The results of the 22nd edition of the competition were announced during a gala in Poznań.
“The Polish Tourist Organisation award is much more than a prestigious title for us. It is an appreciation of 25 years of building the largest event devoted to speculative fiction in Poland. The convention is organised by the Druga Era Association in a non-profit formula and based largely on volunteer work. Pyrkon has become a meeting place for different generations and a space for imparting values. Thanks to its wide offer of attractions and continuous improvement in terms of organisation, it is an event open to everyone – including families with children or people with disabilities. For the whole city it is both a celebration and a showcase,” says Piotr Derkacz, president of the Klub Fantastyki "Druga Era" Association.
For years, the contest for the Best Tourist Product has distinguished the most interesting initiatives that increase the quality and push the competition of Poland's tourism offer. Certificates are awarded to products that not only promote tourism, but also delight visitors and contribute to building the image of Poland as an attractive travel destination. Among others, the following are assessed: attractiveness of the offer, development strategy, promotional activities, innovation, commercialisation, care for the environment and support the product provides for local culture and tradition.
This year's edition of Pyrkon was particularly special – the convention celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the event was visited by over 66,000 Polish and international fiction enthusiasts. For three days, Poznań International Fair became a space accommodating over 2,000 program events – from lectures and panels, to exhibitions and game sessions, to concerts, cosplay shows and numerous thematic zones, including the LEGO Fan Zone, Star Wars Fan Zone or the Reenactment Camps Zone.

The organisers also place great emphasis on the accessibility of the event. The following amenities were introduced, among others, to assist those in need: a coloured tactile map for the visually impaired, a communication card for the Deaf and hard of hearing, a limited stimuli zone, as well as the assistance of a Polish sign language interpreter. The introduction of further amenities is planned to increase the inclusiveness of the convention.
The next edition of Pyrkon will take place on June 19-21, 2026 at the Poznań International Fair. Among special guests are writer Maggie Stiefvater, Twilight Force, co-founder of the Cubicle 7 studio Dominic McDowall, and actor Andrew Wincott.
