Pyrkon Fan Convention has been focusing on accessibility and inclusivity for years. In 2026, the organizers go a step further – for the first time, the translation into Polish Sign Language will be made available during the Łydka Grubasa concert and the Masquerade, one of the main attractions of the convention.
– Year after year, we try to introduce more amenities for people with disabilities. We focus on accessibility and we can see its effects, because more and more people with disabilities visit Pyrkon, including in wheelchairs. This year, for the first time, translators of the Polish Sign Language will appear at our flagship event: the Masquerade and at the Łydka Grubasa concert – announces Anna Pawłowska-Zygarowicz, Pyrkon Accessibility Ombudsman.
During the convention, people with disabilities will be able to take advantage of a number of facilities to make it easier to move around the event area and enjoy the program. Elevators and properly adapted entrances provide access to all the halls and program rooms. At each of the three entrances to the convention area, there is a so-called priority counter, where people with impaired mobility, pregnant women and honorary blood donors can buy a ticket skipping the queue. Thanks to this, it is possible for them to quickly and comfortably enter the convention area.
Participants with disabilities can attend the convention with an assistant or guardian who receives a free badge. To take advantage of this privilege, simply fill out the form available at https://pyrkon.pl/dostepny-pyrkon/. The organizers also wish to remind you about the possibility of reporting other accessibility needs, which allows them to prepare even better and provide comfort to each participant.
Within the Pyrkon area, there are toilets adapted for people with disabilities in many halls, and changing tables are available at some of them. In addition, there is a family room at level 0 in the PCC. The Special Constrained Stimuli Zone allows you to relax away from excess sensory stimuli, and induction loops are installed at the entrances in the priority counters.
To make it even easier to move around the convention, a typhlomap is mounted in front of the Convention Office in Hall 10, which allows orientation for people who are sighted, visually impaired, blind, as well as for persons of short stature and those who cannot read. In addition, Pyrkon provides a Polish Sign Language interpreter on duty during the convention, thanks to which deaf and hard of hearing people will be able to consult an interpreter. Participants also receive a communication card, a set of simple pictograms that facilitate communication with people with hearing disabilities or in a crisis.
For people with hypersensitivity to stimuli, there will also be lectures held in rooms with dimmed light and muted sound, and selected program events will be translated into Polish Sign Language and recorded to later make them available to a wide audience on the convention's YouTube channel. Links to recordings from previous editions of the convention can be found on the Accessible Pyrkon subpage. In the area of the event, there are also markings for places where there may be visual or sound effects being used that may cause discomfort or an epileptic attack.
Pyrkon 2026 will take place between 19-21 June at the Poznań International Fair. Detailed information about the accessibility and the convention can be found at : pyrkon.pl and pyrkon.pl/dostepny-pyrkon.
